Red Kites: Lardon Chase Egg Rolling

After Easter the children of Streatley Primary School go to the top of Lardon Chase and roll hard-boiled eggs down the hill. Somehow the Red Kites get to know all about it. Last year, I’m told, they waited until the kids had gone before swooping in for eggs. This year, no such inhibitions; they were straight in, taking eggs from under the feet of the children running down the hill. I’ve shared some photos of kites and kids with the school, but, without permission I won’t show them here. I reckon there were nearly fifty kites in the air; at one stage I counted nearly 30 on the ground.
