Otmoor in May

An afternoon with Andrew of Magic Moments with Birds.

Good views of reed warblers (more shots in the gallery)

And a reed bunting

A distant curlew

Who then mobbed a red kite

Nesting heron, trying to pull a stick out of the water

Common tern, fishing

Absolutely brilliant pics. Loved the gannets especially. I spent a day on Bass Rock a few years ago, and to be immersed into their activities was quite amazing – wonderful birds. Hermaness was also spectacular with the surround sound just like tractors starting up! Good to be reminded about beautiful Otmoor too. And the campions and bluebells make fabulous photos. You probably know that a gannet which recovers from avian flu has black pupils. I don’t think it’s known whether this affects their vision.
