Birds Days out

Otmoor in October

With Andrew, of Magic Moments with birds.

Not just birds.  Darters are still about, Common Darter. Probably Female: ochre becoming duller/reddish with age.

And slithering accross the path a tiny (juvenile) newt.  Variously smooth newt, European newt, northern smooth newt or common newt (Lissotriton vulgaris).  Dangerous business crossing a path with many passing birdwatchers.

Common kestrel (Falco tinnunculus)

Snipe and lapwing

Great cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo) sunbathing

Little egret fishing, and making a splash

Towards dusk, the starlings gather.  It’s murmuration season again.

Finally, sunset at Otmoor
